Huckleberry Little Learners

Huckleberry Little Learners — Place-based Learning on Snuneymuxw Territory

What is Huckleberry Little Learners Forest School?

Huckleberry Little Learners is a forest school for 3–5 year olds, guided by child-led learning and grounded in relationship—with the land, each other, ourselves, and our Host Nation, Snuneymuxw First Nation.

Throughout our year together, we will spend time with three distinct ecosystems, visiting each one in every season in a spiral of relationship-building and care—led by the exploration and wonder of our little learners.

We will nurture these relationships through child-led play, plant walks, storytelling, uplifting curiosity, and the sharing of traditional knowledge and handicrafts.

Our learning will be grounded in understanding how to be respectful of—and care for—our animal kin, each other, and ourselves, while always striving to be in right relationship and solidarity with our Host Nation, Snuneymuxw.

Who is Huckleberry Little Learners Forest School for?

We are currently welcoming 3–5 year olds to join Huckleberry Little Learners.

As we gauge community interest, we will decide whether to run mixed-age programming or create dedicated sessions for younger (3-year-olds) and older (4–5-year-olds) learners.

We are reserving select spaces in each session for Snuneymuxw children to attend at no cost.

Caregivers of enrolled Little Learners are warmly welcomed to join during their child’s session.
Siblings are also welcome to attend at no cost, provided a caregiver is present.
